Green tea plants are quite beautiful and it is a fun to learn how to grow green tea. They not only bring you great tasting tea but can also provide your home more curb appeal. If the plants are properly maintained they can be quite gorgeous. However, be ready to wait! With some plants, it can take 3 years before you can begin to harvest from them. (side tip: when you are ready to harvest your plants always remember to harvest from the newest sprouting leaf.)
So lets get to it! To grow green tea, first you want to order your seeds from a reputable company (I prefer the teaspot). Once you have your seeds you are going to want to soak them in water for about 24-48 hours. Your seeds will then need to provide them with sunlight and mist them for about 1-2 days. Once you see the seed crack, its time to plant! I use all purpose potting soils and poke a hole about 2 times as deep as the seed size.(be sure to plant with the dot on the seed facing up).
I would recommend using a spray bottle over a watering can to keep the soil moist. You will then need to upkeep misting the soil for about 1-2 months before you see the plant sprout. If you plant sprouted, Congrats! You are on your way to having a beautiful plant and very tasty tea!
